Welcome to Westhampton!

Dear New Neighbor,

Welcome! We are pleased you have chosen Westhampton as your home. The Westhampton Homeowners Association (WHA) prides itself on being an active organization with a mission to keep Westhampton a fun and safe place to live and a place where all our property values will remain strong. All of our activities are geared around furthering one or more of these goals and we invite you to get involved any way you can. Every homeowner’s Deed includes a statement committing each of us to the Westhampton Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions (CCR). The CCR detail the workings of the Association, permitted activities of homeowners, and other processes for conduct as a resident (copies are available here). The most common issues we deal with are:

  • Routine parking on the street is not allowed.
  • The pool is a wonderful asset to our neighborhood. All of the rules are clearly posted at the pool, and can also be found on the website. No one under the age of 14 is allowed at the pool without adult supervision.
  • All modifications outside your home (e.g. decks, rooms, fences) must be reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Committee.

We have an active Neighborhood Watch Program that depends on each homeowner knowing your neighbor and reporting suspect activities. The WHA e-mail and our automated calling system serves as primary methods of communication. Another very useful communication tool is Nextdoor. Nextdoor enables homeowners to communicate with each other independently (e.g. items wanted, items for sale, services wanted/offered, crime reports, etc.). You are strongly encouraged to sign up on Nextdoor. For time urgent messages (e.g. a crime issue/report) we use the automated calling system. Please send me your e-mail and telephone number at the email below. Some of the effective and simple things to reduce your risk for crime are:

  • Turn on outside lights (porch lights or flood lights) at night – if everyone does this, it will
significantly illuminate your street, and say to would-be intruders that we are “on-alert”.
  • Be on the lookout for suspicious people or vehicles in the neighborhood and report them
immediately to the Knox County Sheriff’s office (215-2444). While we may not get a timely
response every time, if a vehicle or description of a person is reported enough times, they will be
more likely to respond and check it out. Try to get a license plate number on any vehicles you are
reporting. Also send an e-mail to pres@westhamptonhoa.org so we can keep everyone informed.
  • Meet your neighbors. Let your neighbors know when you are going to be away from home (on
vacation or a business trip) and let them know who is supposed to be in your home during that time.
Ask them to keep a watch on your place and let them know how to contact you if necessary.
  • Make sure all of your exterior doors have deadbolt locks on them.

Our homeowners association is only as strong as our willingness to actively support it. So I encourage you to take part in as many WHA activities as you can throughout the year. Be sure to visit our website regularly for news, supplemental information, and our calendar.

Please feel free to be in touch with any Board member if you have questions or if we can be of service to you.

Again, welcome to Westhampton! We are pleased to have you with us, and look forward to getting to know you
as our new neighbor.

Best regards,
Your Westhampton HOA Board
